Density is the amount of mass per unit volume, and relative density is the ratio of the density of the sample at temperature T to the density of water at standard temperature. The measurement is done using a hydrometer at a certain temperature and according to the ASTM D1298 standard. If needed, it can be measured at other temperatures and the results can be calculated.
